Inches from Disaster

Inches from Disaster is a gripping CEJ narrative capturing the fragile line between ordinary life and sudden danger. Inspired by a real near‑miss moment, this piece brings readers into the tension of a split second — the swerve, the freeze, the pole that came too close, and the breath that returned only after the danger passed.

Through vivid storytelling and emotional honesty, the poem reveals the unseen protection that often stands between us and tragedy. It reminds us that even when recklessness surrounds us, God’s presence remains near — slowing the moment, steadying the hands, and guarding the life He has given.
