Knocking on the Same Door

Page 1

The problem remains the same,
Just wearing different clothes,
Appearing on different days,
At different times.

Yet all it does
Is keep knocking on the same door,
And the result remains the same.

I woke this morning
And followed my usual ritual—
Listening to the sound of my thoughts,
Reading the daily words,
Thanking God for yesterday
And for the gift of today.

Then I asked Him,
"Will I see You?
Will I hear from You today?"

But the nagging ache from yesterday
Rose with me,
Turning the day
Into a zone of turmoil.

The call I needed yesterday morning
Never came.
And my mind wandered,
Searching for reasons,
Wondering how difficult it could be
To show the commitment
That would bring happiness
And put out the flames.

Then today it arrived—
A call that wasn't meant to be.
Only a cover story,
A substitute for what was missing.

So tell me,
Is it really that hard to see?

The problem remains the same,
Just wearing different clothes,
Appearing on different days,
At different times.

It keeps knocking on the same door,
And the result remains the same.

For if the heart is genuine,
Its call would sound like love,
Not burden.

There would be a longing to hear the voice,
A desire to touch,
A willingness to stay.

Yet the problem remains the same,
Just wearing different clothes,
Appearing on different days,
At different times.

It keeps knocking on the same door,
And the result remains the same.

Perhaps it is time
To choose another door to knock on.

"Not every closed door is a rejection; sometimes it is God's redirection."
