Cause and Effect

When you cheat,
it is not simply about
having a good time
with someone else.

When you cheat for selfish reasons,
you bring with it
tremendous pain
to your spouse.

Men and women may cheat
for different reasons,
but regardless of the reason,
it reflects a lack of respect
for the one you vowed to honor.

A cheater thinks only of self,
with little regard for their partner’s feelings
or how their actions
will affect the relationship.

Infidelity does not harm only the spouse —
it also wounds children,
if children are involved.

There are first-time cheaters
and habitual cheaters;
whatever the category,
the effects remain the same.

Marriage is a sanctuary
built on love, commitment,
security, trust,
and faithfulness.
When you cheat,
that sanctuary is broken.

Both partners experience
a storm of emotions.

For the betrayed spouse:
emptiness,
loss of dignity and self-worth,
broken confidence,
a shattered heart,
anger, insecurity,
and a deep sense of being unloved.

For the one who cheated:
guilt becomes the heaviest burden.
It is painful to witness
the suffering you caused —
suffering born from selfish choice.

If love was involved elsewhere,
there is also the emotional separation
that must be confronted
if reconciliation is the goal.

Cheating is often justified
by claiming there were problems
in the relationship.
But the greater failure
was not addressing those problems
with honesty and courage.

Infidelity rarely simplifies anything —
it complicates everything.

Yet for couples willing to reconcile,
forgiveness from both sides
is essential.

One says, there were problems.
The other says, you cheated.

After trauma such as this,
true character reveals itself.

A spouse who can forgive,
who still desires reconciliation,
and who continues to love unconditionally
stands as a person of deep strength
and quiet dignity.

Spiritual guidance
and counseling
can help rebuild what was broken.

Do not blame God.
He has not forsaken you.

Seek His guidance,
His grace,
and His love
to walk with you
through this wilderness.

His love will teach you
how to love each other again.

So, fight —
fight —
fight for your love.
